Command Sergeant Major Gabriel S. Arnold was born on April 21, 1970 in Huntington Park, CA and was raised in Los Angeles. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1989 as a 54B, Chemical Operations Specialist.

His other military schools include Drill Sergeant, Airborne, Jumpmaster, Air Assault, Battle Staff Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program. He is also a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. His decorations include the Legion of Merit (1st OLC), the Bronze Star Medal (1st OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3d OLC), Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Valorous Unit Award.
